About the Lab + Patient Care

Dr. Cory Simpson leads research at the Simpson Lab located on the UW Medicine South Lake Union (SLU) Campus, and provides patient care at the University of Washington Medical Center Roosevelt Dermatology Clinic.

The Division of Dermatology houses several research teams which encourage involvement from dermatology and bio-medical trainees, across many phases of their careers. The Nghiem Lab, studies the biology of skin cancer with a special focus on Merkel cell carcinoma (MCC), a rare but lethal skin cancer. The Kawasumi Lab is led by Dr. Masaoki Kawasumi whose team of researchers investigate molecular mechanisms of UV skin carcinogenesis, with a goal of developing new ways to prevent skin cancer.

Patient Care

Dr. Simpson sees patients at the UW Medical Center Roosevelt Dermatology Clinic. Dr. Simpson’s clinical expertise includes skin blistering diseases such as pemphigus and pemphigoid, as well as genetic skin barrier disorders such as ichthyoses and Darier disease.

Research Opportunities — Coming Soon!

The UW Division of Dermatology encourages research involvement from residents, research fellows, scientists and medical students who are interested in contributing to dermatologic research and careers in academic dermatology. Trainees participating in UW Dermatology research regularly interact with faculty researchers and dermatologists, and receive mentorship focused on the development of research skills and career development. Learn more about research opportunities through UW Dermatology.

Parking in South Lake Union

Parking for the entire complex is located under Admin Building C on the corner of Republican St and 9th Ave N, and the entrance to the parking garage is on Republican St.
