Simpson Lab co-authors study on aberrant keratinocyte differentiation in atopic dermatitis

The Simpson Lab was excited to contribute to a paper in Nature Communications through their ongoing collaboration with the team of Dr. Johann Gudjonsson in the University of Michigan Department of Dermatology. The study utilized single-cell RNA sequencing to show that keratinocytes from biopsies of atopic dermatitis exhibit an altered differentiation program that increases their IL-13/IL-22 inflammatory responses. Dr. Simpson and Research Scientist Dr. Arti Parihar, PhD, replicated these findings in organotypic human epidermal models treated with IL-13 and IL-22.
