In collaboration with the Gudjonsson Lab at the University of Michigan, the Simpson Lab published a new article in Methods in Molecular Biology outlining their approach to build 3D tissue models of rare genetic skin diseases. Deploying CRISPR DNA editing in human skin cells (keratinocytes) has allowed them to generate nickel-sized pieces of diseased tissue, which the lab is using to discover new therapies. Contributors from the Simpson Lab include co-lead author and PhD student Jessica Ayers along with Research Scientists Arti Parihar, PhD, and Thomas Vincent, PhD.
